STILL BEAUTY (2012)

Still Beauty investigates human fragility on entering the private world of a young woman affected by rheumatoid arthritis. Autoimmune diseases are nowadays quite diffused, particularly in industrialized countries. They are illnesses that occur when the body's tissues are mistakenly attacked by their own immune system. The more the body attacks itself denying its daily motion activities, the more an intervention of external bodies is required in order to guarantee the limbs’ regular function. I see rheumatoid arthritis as a paradox of fragility as well as an extreme manifestation of human vulnerability within our society.
